March Client of the Month

Updated: Mar 11, 2020

Elephant Back Peak, Jackson WY

Congratulations to Kelly Hildreth on being nominated Co-Movements March Client of the Month! Kelly has been with the Co-Movement community since October of 2013!! Kelly's dedication to showing up each session, putting in full effort and staying consistent day in and day out is a rare combination. She works closely with her trainer Andrew Cieply one time per week for a private session and takes her knowledge of new movements and applies them outside of the gym whether completing an at-home workout, or on the trail hiking. Congratulations to Kelly! _______________________________________________________________

1. How did you hear about Co-Movement? I first heard about Co-Movement from my dear friend and colleague, Nancy Morgan. Because I was never one to enjoy exercise, I was intrigued with the idea of personal accountability with a personal trainer. I also talked to Tammy Alcott, a former Waterville teacher and personal trainer at Co-Movement. She encouraged me to give it a try and told me that I would fit in even though I was not a top athlete! 2. Tell us a little bit about your background and what brought you to Co-Movement, when did you start? I am in my 22nd year of teaching; the last eleven have been as a Reading Specialist at Memorial Park School in Waterville. I love the spark that I see in each of my students and want to have energy to keep up with them! My husband Jody and I have been married for 28 years. We love traveling and have a goal to visit all of our country's National Parks. (20 down, 42 to go!) Last year we visited Yellowstone, Badlands, and the Grand Tetons; this year we look forward to hiking Shenandoah, Joshua Tree, and Glacier National Parks. We are fortunate that our two daughters love to travel and see the world with us. Despite spending many of my teenage years on the ski slope and running a 5K the year I turned 40, I never thought of myself as an athlete. I had very little confidence in my physical abilities. I was terrified of going to a gym. But as I hit that 40 mark, I could see that I was putting on the pounds and didn't have a clue as to how to stop the downward spiral. Because I hated to exercise, I knew that I needed to do something proactive with my health to be able to be around as long as possible for my family. In October of 2013 I took the plunge and filled out the form on the website. I soon had a meeting with Josh and was training with my first trainer, Shannon, twice a week. 3. What is your favorite music you listen to when you are moving? I really have to focus and concentrate when I lift weights, so I barely notice the music. But I'm good with anything playing in the background, except country music. 4. Name one favorite meal or snack that you enjoy the most. I love all types of fish and most veggies. One of my favorite meals would be a piece of salmon with roasted brussel sprouts. Or, if I'm feeling decadent, I enjoy a cheesy cauliflower mash. I do have a wicked sweet tooth, so I've learned to make and enjoy small treats for myself sweetened with stevia. I love talking about nutrition and food with Andy. He has helped me to embrace healthy fats and leave the low-fat/high-carb lifestyle behind. 5. What is your most memorable moment at Co-Movement? Deadlifting 125 x 6! I think I've gone up to 135 x 6, but I'd have to check with Andy to be sure. I love the feeling of lifting a weight that at first seemed impossible. I'm also indebted to the four trainers that I've worked with at Co-Movement; they've all been encouraging and have challenged me to do things that I never thought I could do.

6. What would you tell someone looking at joining Co-Movement? Just do it. For all of my adult life, I've been taking care of others. My gym appointment is the one time of the week when I can concentrate on myself. You don't need to have a background in athletics or any prior knowledge of weightlifting or any exercise to join Co-Movement. The trainers take you where you are and encourage you on your own journey. It was so hard for me to take the first step and contact Josh, but it's been one of the best decisions of my life. 7. Anything else you want people to know about your and your journey? Being at Co-Movement has not only helped me physically, but has helped me to keep moving forward when life has been hard. Just two months after joining Co-Movement, my mom passed away unexpectedly. Having the consistency of working out each week was so helpful while working through my grief. I also had a major health event in April of 2015 when I suddenly became 100% deaf in one ear. Just knowing that there was a friendly face waiting for me at the gym who would challenge me to better myself helped me to keep moving forward! ________________________________________________________________________________
